Agriculture scenario in the district
Preface:-
Dhar district is divided into three agro-climatic zones under the agro-climatic scenario of the district.
- Under Malwa development block Dhar, Tirla, Nalchha, Sardarpur, Badnawar, Manawar, Dharampuri, Umarban, Nisarpur and Jhabua mountain range under climate includes Kukshi, Bagh, Gandhwani, Dahi under Nimad climate.
- Soybean is cultivated in about 90 percent of the area in Malvanchal, which has a different climate.
- In Nimar zone, cotton is grown in 47 percent, maize in 22 percent, soyabean in 15 percent area.
- Similarly, under the Jhabua mountain range, cotton is grown in 41 percent, maize 23 percent, soyabean 22 percent and pulses, urad, moong, arhar, chawla etc. in 6 percent area.
- In this sequence, wheat is sown in 76 percent of rabi crops and gram crop in 17 percent. In the district, out of 18 thousand 947 farmers, 14 thousand 684 hectare area is of forest lease holder farmers.
Irrigation Status:-
- The irrigated area of the district is 4 lakh 18 thousand 272 hectares.
- The irrigated area is 34 thousand 450 hectare under the major project Maan, Mahi, Jobt under government source.
- The minor irrigation scheme is 62 thousand 524 hectares by Manawar and Dhar divisions.
- 66 thousand hectare by Omkareshwar project, thus 1 lakh 62 thousand 974 hectare from government source.
- Irrigation is done in 2 lakh 55 thousand 298 hectare from non-government source wells, tubewells, rivers and ponds.
