On February 12, 1982, the Directorate of Horticulture and Farm Forestry was established under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Madhya Pradesh to increase the production of horticultural crops in the state and to provide a balanced diet. In order to make the state forerunner in the field of horticulture and to promote agro-based industries in the state. the Madhya Pradesh government merged the Madhya Pradesh Agro Industries Development Corporation and the Directorate of Horticulture and Farm Forestry to form the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing which is independent of the Department of Agriculture. The notification for the same was issued on December 22, 2005.
Objectives:–
To augment the development of horticulture, it is imperative to plan schemes in accordance with the needs of the modern era to be swift, timely, engaging, attractive and useful to large farmers’ groups, farmers living below the poverty line and landless agricultural labourers.
District level structure
