Such is the magic of Mandav’s soil that whoever came here, stayed here. May it be dynasties from different civilizations or flora from the world over, all became one with the soil here. One such example is the Baobab from the arid state of Africa. It was brought to Mandav during the reign of Mahmud Khilji in the 14th century and its name was changed from ‘Baobab’ to “Khurasani Imli. It is known by one more name Mandav Imli The tree looks as if somebody has planted it upside down with the roots up and the trunk down, The leaves grow only during the rainy season.

The locket-like fruits (Monkey Bread), without any leaves, never fail to get people’s attention. It is said that after eating this fruit one doesn’t feel thirsty for 3-4 hours. According to Michel Adanson, French naturalist and explorer, the diameter of this tree’s trunk can be more than 30 meters. This tree not only lives for more than 5,000 years but it can also store up to 1.20.000 litres of water in its lifetime.
